Beckford, Antoine, Kent Claim ECFC Weekly Honors
- PAXTON, MA : Senior defensive back Armstrong Antoine (Stratford, CT), sophomore wide receiver Harold Beckford (Cambridge, MA) and sophomore kicker Ryan Kent (Marlton, NJ) of the Anna Maria College football team were named to the Eastern Collegiate Football Conference (ECFC) weekly honor roll for the week ending Sunday, September 12th, as announced by the conference on Monday.
Antoine, the senior defensive back, was named Defensive Player of the Week. He exploded out of the gate for the AMCATS in their season opener against Nichols, picking off an interception and returning it 70 yards for a touchdown pick-six. He also broke up two passes and finished with five tackles.
In his first collegiate game, Beckford put on a show, recording six receptions totaling 116 yards and one touchdown and was named Rookie of the Week. Beckford's 86-yard touchdown reception with 10:17 to go in the second quarter put the AMCATS ahead 17-0 at that point.
Kent was perfect on the day, going three-for-three on field goals and two-for-two on extra points, totaling 11 points and was named Special Teams Player of the Week. He also averaged 51.3 yards on six kickoffs.
