Braga Voted CoSIDA Academic All-District

PAXTON, MA : Senior Hayden Braga (Foster, RI) of the Anna Maria College football team was voted to the 2021 Academic All‐District® Football Team, selected by CoSIDA as announced by the association this month.
In four years with the AMCATS, Braga made his mark throughout the program as a jack-of-all-trades, playing at wide receiver, punter and kick returner. Braga finished his career with exactly 100 career receptions, becoming just the fourth player ever to reach that plateau. In 2021, Braga provided invaluable leadership in helping Anna Maria to their best season ever, all while catching 46 passes for 593 yards with one touchdown, averaging 33.2 yards per punt on 120 punts, and returned six kick returns, averaging 18.2 yards per return including a 76-yard touchdown return against SUNY Maritime on November 13th after being recognized before kickoff as part of senior day. Braga was voted to the Eastern Collegiate Football Conference (ECFC) All-Conference First Team in 2019, and was named a team captain of the AMCATS ahead of their historic 2021 season.
Braga posted a 3.93 GPA as a graduate student, majoring in Sport Management.
He is the first AMCAT to be named to the CoSIDA Football Academic All-District Team since former Anna Maria great Kolin Matthews was so recognized in 2015.
To be eligible for all-academic honors, a student-athlete must be a starter or a key reserve, maintain a cumulative grade point average of 3.30 on a scale of 4.00, have reached sophomore athletic and academic standings at his/her current institution and be nominated by his/her sports information director. First-team Academic All-District honorees advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America® ballot. Academic All-America® honorees will be announced in mid-December.
