D3football.com Release

PAXTON, MA : Graduate student defensive lineman Jude Sampson (Waterbury, CT) of the Anna Maria College football team has been named to the D3football.com Team of the Week for the week ending November 7, 2021 in an announcement by the website on Tuesday.

Sampson led the AMCATS defense to one of their best performances of the season this past Saturday, holding Gallaudet to 14 points on offense in a 37-21 come-from-behind victory. The senior recorded two sacks totaling 16 yards, to go along with 3.5 tackles for loss and seven tackles total. Sampson leads the AMCATS in sacks this season with seven over eight games.

In his final season as an AMCAT, Sampson is climbing the record books. His seven sacks on the season rank him second in school history for a single year while his nine career sacks are likewise second all-time.

He is the second Anna Maria player to be named to the first AMCAT named to the D3football.com Team of the Week this season, joining teammate senior quarterback Alex Cohen. He is just the third AMCAT so-recognized in the history of the program.
