
Football Surges Past Eagles 47-29
PAXTON, MA - On Saturday, September 28th the Anna Maria College football team hosted the Husson University Eagles for a non-conference matchup. The AMCATS won the game 47-29.
The AMCATS started the day off strong with a pair of touchdowns in the first quarter. Tyler Bulinski notched the AMCATS first touchdown of the day off a 28 yard pass from Ryan Russell with a little over eight minutes left to play in the first quarter. Kevin Acosta Jr was the next AMCAT to reach the end zone, scoring off a 15 yard pass from Russell. Leading 14-0, the AMCATS would give up their first touchdown of the day with under a minute to play in the quarter.
Still leading 14-7, the AMCATS would continue to control the game as Tyler Garretson scored just two minutes into the second quarter to give the AMCATS a 14 point lead over the Eagles. Ryan Kent would tack on three points for the AMCATS after scoring a 22 yard field goal. Again the Eagles would close out the quarter with a touchdown with under a minute left to play, keeping them in the game.
After the intermission, the AMCATS hit the ground running with a 92 yard kickoff return from Justin Oliver to improve the AMCATS lead to 31-14. Davien Atkinson joined in on the fun scoring his first touchdown of the day off a 25 yard pass from Russell. The Eagles would again close out the quarter with a touchdown making it 37-21 as the game entered its final quarter of play.
Ryan Kent would find his way back on the board in the fourth quarter with a 28 yard field goal just five minutes into the quarter. The Eagles would earn just one more touchdown before Jamal Cariglia closed out a game with a one yard run to make the game 47-29 as the clock hit zero.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE:
- The AMCATS win moved head coach Steve Croce up as the Winningest coach in the programs history (12 Wins; previously held by Dan Mulroony: 11 Wins)
- The win also marks the AMCATS first win over a CCC school in the programs history.
- Ryan Russell has already accumulated 1,360 passing yards so far this season in just four games played.
- Jamal Cariglia Leads the AMCATS with 306 rushing yards in four games.

The AMCATS will be back in action on Saturday, October 5th where they will host the Golden Bears of Western New England University for a non-conference matchup. Opening kickoff is set for 7:00pm at Caparso Field in Paxton, MA.
