ECFC Announces All-Conference Awards

PAXTON, MA - On Thursday, November 21st the Eastern Collegiate Football Conference (ECFC) announced the 2024 Post Season Awards. Ryan Russell, Ryan Kent and Di'Angelo Jean Pierre walked away with Player of the Year Honors while 20 total AMCATS were named to First and Second Team All-Conference.

For the second straight year, Anna Maria quarterback Ryan Russell (West Springfield, Mass.) was selected as the Offensive Player of the Year. Russell led the league in several categories, including passing yards (2,777), yards per game (308.6), completion percentage (63.3%) and touchdowns (27). The senior QB also led the AMCATs in rushing and ranked fifth in the league in rushing yards (407) while adding four rushing touchdowns. Russell threw for over 300 yards in five of his nine games this season, including one game over 400 yards. The West Springfield, Mass. native finished 3rd in the nation in total offense per game (353.8 avg.) and finished 4th nationally for average passing yards per game (308.56).

Ryan Kent (Martin, Ct.) was honored as the ECFC Special Teams Player of the Year for the second year in a row. The senior ranked 1st in the conference for field goals made (6) and total points (57). Kent had two double-digit games on the season, including a win over Husson in which he collected 11 points after going 5-5 on extra point attempts and 2-2 on field goals. The Martin, Conn. native also took on punting duties, punting 15 times on the season for 527 yards and an average of 35.1 yards, including a long of 50 yards. Four of Kent's punts forced opponents inside their own 20-yard line and two were fair catches.

Defensive back Di'Angelo Jean Pierre (Deep River, Conn.) was honored as Co-Rookie of the Year after his impressive first-year campaign for the AMCATs. Jean Pierre finished the season with 45 tackles, averaging five tackles per game which ranked 11th in the conference. The first-year linebacker also nabbed three interceptions, which tied for second in the league, and tacked on four pass breakups. One of those interceptions was returned for a 57-yard touchdown.
