Volleyball Swept by Blue Jays

PAXTON, Mass: The Anna Maria Volleyball team was bested this evening by the University of Saint Joseph's in conference action 3-0 with set scores of 25-20, 25-18, and 25-4 in West Hartford Connecticut.

 

Saint Joseph's (8-9, 1-5 GNAC) offense was shared between five different players as they combined for thirty-two kills in the match. Torrie Epps led the blue jays with eight attack attempts that found their mark. Epps was closely seconded by Hannah Benson who was just one shy of Epps with seven kills. Aminah Tsonga and Nina Lestud came next as they both totaled six kills each with Brenna Miller rounding out the top scorers with five. Miller also, led the team in assists as she accumulated twenty-two in the contest.

 

The AMCATS (3-16, 0-6 GNAC) were led by senior Sarah Lathrop (Waterford, Conn.) who tallied three attack attempts that went for kills. She was accompanied by Hannah Mitchel (Pittsfield, Mass.), Abygail Chapdelaine (East Longmeadow, Mass.), and Megan Drew (Upton, Mass.) who all had two kills in tonight's match.

 

The Blue Jays will be back on the court this Wednesday the 10th at 7:00 PM as they take on another conference opponent in Suffolk.

 

Anna Maria will also be back this Wednesday at 7:00 PM as they take on Albertus Magnus.
