Field Hockey Falls to Clark, 2-1

Worcester, Mass. – Madison Boardman (Cornish, N.H.) banged home the game-winning goal in the 54th minute to lift host Clark University to a thrilling 2-1 win over Anna Maria in non-league field hockey action on Tuesday evening.

The win for the Cougars pushes their record to 5-3 overall while the AMCATS now sit at 4-6 dropping their second straight contest.

Clark got on the board first in the 23rd minute when Kiah Murphy (Westport, Mass.) fed Maria Manning (Manchester, N.H.) for her third tally of the season on a penalty corner at 22:43.

Things stayed that way until midway through the second half when reigning GNAC Player of the Week Kylie Dalbec (Portland, Maine) connected with Kayla Lapierre (Worcester, Mass.) to knot the game at 1-1 49:28.

The Cougars wasted little time regaining the lead a little more than four minutes later when Zoe LaFrance-Armstrong (Old Orchard Beach, Maine) assisted on Boardman's go-ahead goal at 53:59.

Clark held a slight advantage in shots (6-4) but the AMCATS were ahead in penalty corners (6-3).

Christine Tinsman (Prairie Village, Kan.) made three saves to earn the victory, while Mary Kate Breen (Londonderry, N.H.) turned aside four shots of her own for Anna Maria.

Both teams are back in action on Saturday with the Scarlet and White playing host to Regis and the AMCATS visiting Mount Ida.
