Dalbec Breaks Program Scoring Record in Field Hockey's 4-3 Double-OT Win Against Elms

CHICOPEE, Mass.—Junior Kylie Dalbec (Portland, Maine) scored all four goals and broke the program's all-time scoring record as the Anna Maria College field hockey team downed Elms College 4-3 in double-overtime in non-conference action on Tuesday afternoon.

With the win, the AMCATS snap a two-game slide and improve to 3-4 overall, while the loss drops Elms to 0-6.

Dalbec netted the career-setting goal, and her third of the day, with just seven seconds left in the second half to tie the score at 3-3 and force overtime. After a scoreless first overtime period, she scored again in the 91st minute to seal the win.

The game-winning goal was the 39th of her career. With her four tallies today, she bests the previous AMCATS record of 37 career goals set by Marybeth McClune. Last season, Dalbec broke the all-time career points record, and she presently has 102 career points.

Elms took an early 2-0 lead in today's contest following goals by Jacyln Soderquist and Kristina Kopyscinski in the 10th and 29th minutes of the first half. Dalbac put the AMCATS on the board in the 39th minute with her first goal of the day, assisted by Kayla Garczynski (Norwood, Mass.).

Elms would take a 3-1 lead with Kopyscinski's second goal of the day in the 42nd minute before Dalbec took control by netting the next three goals.

Sophomore Ashley George (Leicester, Mass.) and senior Nichole Lowe (Saugus, Mass.) registered assists on Dalbec's third and fourth goals, respectively.

Junior goaltender Mary Kate Breen (Londonderry, N.H.) registered two saves in the first 41:27 of action before giving way to Bryanna Tobin (Deep River, Conn.), who recorded one save en route to the win. Elms netminder Samantha Alvino faced 22 shots-on-goal and totaled an impressive 18 saves in the complete-game effort.

The AMCATS outshot Elms 32-10 n the afternoon and held a 9-3 edge in penalty corners.

Anna Maria will be back in action on Thursday when they host Framingham State at 4:00 p.m.
