Field Hockey Soars to 4-0 Win against Becker

PAXTON, Mass.—Junior Kylie Dalbac (Portland, Maine) scored twice to lead the Anna Maria College field hockey team to a 4-0 win against Becker College on Tuesday afternoon in non-conference action at AMCAT Field.

With the win, the AMCATS improve to 2-2, while the loss drops the Hawks to 1-3.

The AMCATS needed just 1:38 to get on the board as Dalbac netted her first goal of the season by carrying the ball from the circle and deking two defenders for an open shot on net.

Nearly 26 minutes later, Anna Maria took a 2-0 lead after senior Nichole Lowe (Saugus, Mass.) intercepted a defender's clear attempt and found the back of the goal with a high shot.

Two minutes and 14 seconds into the second half, junior Kayla Lapierre (Worcester, Mass.) collected a rebound off of a shot by Lowe and snuck it around Becker's goaltender for the 3-0 advantage.

Anna Maria's final goal game less than a minute later, as Dalbac collected a blocked shot taken by sophomore Kayla Garczynski (Norwood, Mass.) and connected on a hard shot for her second score of 2014.

Becker's best chance to score came with 8:45 left to play in the second half, when Amy Guguere (Colrain, Mass.) had a wide-open look from a few steps inside the circle. Her shot was hard but directly at Anna Maria goaltender Bryanna Tobin (Deep River, Conn.).

Tobin played the final 32:46 of the game and recorded two saves after taking over for starter Mary Kate Breen (Londonderry, N.H.), who was not forced to make a save in the combined shutout.

Becker netminder Gabrielle Gallo (Northport, N.Y.) totaled 13 saves in the loss. The AMCATS outshot the Hawks 30-6 on the afternoon and held a 16-7 advantage in penalty corners.

Anna Maria returns to action on Thursday, September 11 as it travels to Worcester St. for a 7:00 p.m. non-conference game. Becker is idle on Wednesday, Sept. 17th when it travels to Salem St. for a 6:00 p.m. tilt.
