AMCATS Garner #2 Seed for ECAC Tournament
Paxton, Mass. - After finishing the regular-season with a 20-8 record, Anna Maria College was selected as the No. 2 seed in the 2013 ECAC Division III New England Men's Basketball Championship. The AMCATS will host No. 7 University of Southern Maine (15-12) on Wednesday night at The Fuller Activities Center starting at 7:00pm. The tournament is an eight-team field with quarterfinal, semifinal and championship rounds
In the quarterfinal round contests on Wednesday, February 27, Westfield State College (21-5) will host Emerson College (15-11) at 7:00 p.m. while second seed Anna Maria College (20-8) will face No. 7 University of Southern Maine (15-12) at 7:00 p.m. at Anna Maria College. No. 3 Eastern Connecticut State University (19-8) plays Johnson & Wales University (15-12) at 7:30 p.m. at Eastern Connecticut State University and Castleton State College (16-12) will take on Wentworth Institute of Technology (16-11) at 7:30 p.m. in the No. 4/No. 5 match-up held at Castleton State University.
The first-round winners will advance to the semifinals on Saturday, March 2, 2013 hosted by the highest remaining seed. The winner of #1 Westfield State College/#8 Emerson College will face the winner of #4 Castleton State College/#5 Wentworth Institute of Technology in one semifinal, and the winner of #2 Anna Maria College/#7 University of Southern Maine will play the winner of #3 Eastern Connecticut State University/#6 Johnson & Wales University in the other semifinal (game times will be determined based upon the outcome of the quarterfinal round on Wednesday, February 27, 2013). The semifinal winners will meet Sunday, March 3, 2013 at a time to be determined for the championship game.
