AMCATS Offense Fuels Victory over Lasell in Men’s Hoops

Newton, Mass. (12/8/12) – The Lasell College men's basketball team fell victim to hot-shooting by Anna Maria in a 90-78 Great Northeast Athletic Conference men's basketball match-up Saturday afternoon. Anna Maria improved to 3-5 on the season and 1-2 in conference play, while Lasell slid to 1-8 overall and 0-3 in the league.

Joey Barillo (Dania Beach, Fla.) went 4-5 from deep enroute to 24 points to pace Anna Maria, Anthony Click (Springfield, Mass.) added 20 points while Brad Peterson (North Kingstown, R.I.) finished with 12 points and a game-high 13 rebounds. Javier Bristol (Haverhill, Mass.) and Tyler Delorey (Worcester, Mass.) chipped in with 13 and 10 points respectively for the AMCATS.

Senior Sean Bertanza (Seymour, Conn.) led all scorers with 34 points, knocking down seven three pointers for Lasell, and classmate Arthur Alexander (Port St. Lucie, Fla.) added 19 points including a 12-12 performance at the free throw line.

Anna Maria shot 53.7% from the floor, including 62% from the field in the opening half to open up a 44-33 lead at intermission. The Lasers trimmed the Anna Maria lead to four points on three different occasions in the second half, but were unable to overtake the visiting AMCATS, falling 90-78.

Anna Maria will close out their first semester with a home matchup against Amherst on Tuesday December 11th, while Lasell will be off until after the New Year, when they host Keene State on January 3rd.
