AMCATS earn NCBWA Top 25 recognition

PAXTON, Mass. (01.25.11) – The Anna Maria College baseball team was recognized among others receiving votes by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA)/D3Baseball.com Top 25 Preseason Poll. The AMCATS received two Top 25 votes and were among three teams in The Commonwealth Coast Conference (TCCC) to earn recognition.

The AMCATS are coming off of their most successful season in program history, setting the school records with 21 wins in 2010 while also earning their first Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference (ECAC) Tournament berth. The AMCATS are looking to achieve even more this season, as they return their entire starting lineup and all five of members of their starting rotation. Led by 2011 D3Baseball Preseason All-American Jeff Scafidi (Worcester, Mass.), Anna Maria should boast one of the most potent offenses in the TCCC this year, while starters James McNamara (Worcester, Mass.) and Zach Rafferty (Worcester, Mass.) will anchor the pitching staff.

The AMCATS have improved their conference record every season under Head Coach Dave McNamara, and should be serious contenders for a Conference Championship in 2011.
