Monks Topple AMCATS, 11-0

STANDISH, ME – Saint Joseph's (4-2-1, 1-2-1 GNAC) blanked Anna Maria College (1-8, 0-5 GNAC), 11-0, in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) women's soccer match at Westerlea Way Field on Tuesday. Nine different SJC players joined in the scoring barrage, including junior Lauren Chouinard (Gorham, Maine), who netted a hat trick in the lopsided victory.

Kim Jordan (Bangor, Maine) started the game-scoring in the fourth minute and assisted on a Lizzie Calnan (Westport, Mass.) marker just over two minutes later. Sam Peters (Gorham, Maine) assisted on goals scored by Danielle Daigle (Dayton, Maine) and Jessica Capozzi (Saugus, Mass.), making it a 4-0 game in favor of the Monks after 20 minutes of play and Beaulieu registered a natural hat trick with three consecutive scores over a 10-minute span as the Royal Blue held a daunting 7-0 cushion heading into intermission.

SJC keeper Jaci Lorenzen (Windham, Maine) made three stops to record her fourth shutout of the season and 14th of her career while her counterpart, AMCATS netminder Sarah Benvenuti (Southbridge, Mass.), posted five saves in a losing effort.

Anna Maria hosts Johnson & Wales University in a conference contest slated to start at 11:00 AM on Saturday.
