Cadets' Sink AMCATS in Women's Soccer

NORTHFIELD, Vt. – The Norwich University women's soccer team set a new single-game record for most goals scored on Saturday afternoon in a 12-0 victory over Anna Maria at Howard Field in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) action.

The Cadets (2-4-2, 1-2-2 GNAC) had 11 different players register goals as they picked up their first league victory of the season and also snapped a five-game winless streak in the process.

Senior forward Brittany Casey (Pointe-Claire, Quebec) led the way with two goals an assist, while freshman Anna-Lesa Sukkestad (Half Moon Bay, Calif.) chipped in with her first collegiate goal and three assists as well.

Casey's goals marked the 50^th and 51^st of her sparkling career in the Maroon & Gold and now move her to within two goals of tying Megan Curran '98 for second on the NU all-time goals scored list.

Norwich needed just 1:07 to strike for the first time when senior midfielder Bianca Bogda (Cranston, R.I.) sent a through ball over the top of the defense to Courtney Parisot (Watertown, Conn.) on the right wing. Parisot went to the ball and sped around an Anna Maria defender before roofing a shot over the head of the AMCATS' goalkeeper Sarah Benvenuti.

Benvenuti made 19 saves for the AMCATS after they were outshot 47-1.

Grace Fitzpatrick (Portland, Maine), Bayle Lamarre (Tyngsboro, Mass.), Julia Lovely (Auburn, Mass.) and Morgan Lamorey (Northfield, Vt.) all scored in the first half as well with each getting their first goal of the season.

Senior Erin Roper (Scarborough, Maine), Sukkestad and Victoria Sohn (Embrun, Ontario) capped the Norwich scoring with a goal each in the second half. 

Junior goalkeeper Liz Chapedelaine (Somerset, Mass.) picked up the win for Norwich without having to make a save.
