Blue Jays Clip AMCATS in Women's Soccer

Paxton, Mass. – The visiting Blue Jays of Saint Joseph University defeated Anna Maria College 10-0 in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) women's soccer action at AMCAT Field on Monday afternoon.

The Blue Jays remain undefeated in GNAC action improving to 9-1-1 (7-0-1 GNAC) on the season while the AMCATS (1-11, 0-9 GNAC) are still in search of their first conference win.

The AMCATS were once again led by goaltender Sarah Benvenuti (Southbridge, Mass.), the freshman netminder made 20 saves in the loss. Sophomore Cristina Turley (Waterford, Conn.) had the lone shot on goal today for Anna Maria.

Junior Patricia Nolan (Portland, CT) led the Blue Jays with 3 goals and an assist while teammate Tiana Saraceno (Plainville, CT) chipped in with two goals and a helper. Sara Barnick (Watertown, CT), Lindsey Cifalldi (Wolcott, CT), Nichole Mendelson (Southbury, CT), Courtney Cesca (Winsted, CT) and Keely Martin (Lebanon, CT) each added a goal.

The Blue Jays held the edge in shots 53-1 and corners 12-0.

The AMCATS return to action on Saturday when they travel to Emmanuel College for a noontime GNAC match-up.
