2012 GNAC Men’s Lacrosse Post Season Honors

Paxton, Mass. –Six Anna Maria men's lacrosse players earned Great Northeast Athletic Conference All-Conference accolades as announced by the conference communications department. Named to the First Team All-Conference were midfielders Chris Summers (Long Valley, NJ) and Joshua Smith (Mendon, Mass.) along with long stick specialist senior  Brad Peterson (North Kingstown, RI) and defender Kyle Falkenmeyer (Unadilla, NY). Senior attack Mike Saulnier (Wrentham, Mass.) picked up Second Team honors while goaltender Andrew Ellis was named to the All-Conference Sportsmanship team.

 Summers' 35 goals and 41 total points were new career highs for the junior from NJ. Summers finished in the top 10 in the GNAC in goals and number one in shots (143). His 35 goals tie the AMCATS record for goals in a season. Two of his biggest games of the season came against GNAC opponents, he had a season high 6 points (5G, 1A) against Becker and four goals against Lasell. Summers collected his 100th career point against Norwich University on April 18th.

Smith was a dynamo in the face-off circle for the AMCATS, the freshman was 73-for-123 (59.3%) in conference match-ups and 56.6% on the season. He wasn't too shabby around the net either.  potting 19 goals and dishing out 24 assists on the season. Smith ranked 4th in the conference in assists and 6th in face-offs. He had a career game against Emerson when he score a hat trick and handed out 5 assists for an 8 point day. Against Becker in the GNAC Quarterfinals, the freshman equaled his career high in point with 4goals and 4 assists.

Peterson was the linchpin to the AMCATS defense all season long. In 14 games the senior captain tallied career-high totals in goals (16) assists (13) and points (29). He amassed 96 ground balls while recording 25 turnovers on the season.

Falkenmeyer helped backbone the Anna Maria defense to an AMCAT record 10 wins this season, including a big 8-7 road win at Norwich University to help seal the #3 seed in the Tournament.  He was sixth on the team in ground balls with 65.

Saulnier finished in 4th place in the GNAC in goals (33) and 3rd in shots (140). The senior captain has set career-highs in both goals and points (40) and picked up his 100th career point against Rivier this season. He had two six point games this season vs. Rivier (3G, 3A) and Emerson (5G, 1A) and scored 5 goals against Saint Joseph's (ME). Saulnier is the AMCAT career leader in points (114) and goals (95).

Andrew Ellis set an AMC record for game won in a season (10) while playing every minute in-between the pipes for Anna Maria. He has 143 saves on the season and was on the GNAC Honor Roll twice this season.
