Lasers Stun AMCATS at Home 13-6
Paxton, Mass. – Sophomore Chris Summers (Long Valley, NJ) notched four goals for Anna Maria but it wasn't enough as the visiting Lasell Lasers defeated the AMCATS 13-6 today in Great Northeast Athletic Conference men's Lacrosse action at AMCAT field. The loss drops the AMCATS to 4-6, 1-3 on the season while Lasell improves to 5-4, 3-0 GNAC.
Also contributing to the AMCATS offense were seniors Brad Peterson and Blake Simpson (Warwick, RI) each adding goals. Goalkeeper Andrew Ellis (Fitchburg, Mass.) made 6 saves on the day.
The Lasers were paced by a pair of hat tricks by Jake LaMorte (Walpole, Mass.) and Dylan Gray (Bayport, NY). Freshman Robbie Palazzo (Redding, Conn.) and Lads Shaello-Johsnon (Binghamton, NY) each had two points on the stat sheet.
Anna Maria's Summers found the back of the twine just :56 seconds into the game, Lasell would later tie the game with a goal by Dylan Gray to even the score at 1-1 at the end of the first quarter.
The teams traded goal and then Lasell broke the game open scoring four goals in a 1:15 second span. Jake LaMorte scored two of the goals while Gray scored his second of the game and Lads Shaello-Johnson added a tally to take a 6-2 lead into the locker room.
Lasell outscored the AMCATS 3-1 in the third quarter, senior Brad Peterson (North Kingstown, RI) scored the lone goal for AMC in the period.
Summers score three fourth quarter goals for AMC for the 13-6 final.
Anna Maria returns to action on Wednesday when they travel down Route 56 to take on Becker College in a GNAC match-up starting at 4:00 pm.
