Men’s Lacrosse Announces Captains

Paxton, Mass. – The Anna Maria College men's lacrosse team has named their captains for the 2012 season. First year Head Coach Mark Lange has announced seniors Mike Saulnier (Wrentham, MA/King Phillip) and Brad Peterson (North Kingstown, RI/North Kingstown) along with juniors Chris Summers (Long Valley, NJ/W. Morris Central), Jason Baker(Billerica, MA/Shawsheen Tech) and Patrick Lewis (Norwich, CT/Norwich Academy)  will lead the AMCATS for the spring season.

Saulnier, in his second season as a captain, has played in 42 games for the AMCATS pacing the offense with 63 goals and 11 assists in his three years. Mike has been with the lacrosse program since the inaugural 2009 season. In 2011 he led the team with 36 points (29 goals, 7 assists) and is the programs all-time leader in points, goals and games played. 

Coach Lange states, "Mike is the heart and soul of the lacrosse program at Anna Maria, and along with the other captains, they are role models of hard work and passion for competition here at AMC."

Peterson, also a member of the inaugural season, is the backbone of the AMCATS defense. Brad has played in 39 games and is the all-time leader in ground balls with 237 to record. In 2011 Peterson contributed 11 goals and 7 assists to the offense.

Junior midfielder Chris Summers played in all 17 games of the 2011 campaign. He was second on the team with 28 goals and 33 points. Chris is fierce competitor with an explosive drive; he is second all-time in assists, goals and points after two complete seasons.

Jason Baker is returning to the lacrosse gridiron after missing the entire 2011 season due to injury. In his freshman season the long stick had 3 goals and an assist in 16 games.

Pat Lewis returns for his junior season as the most improved player on the AMCATS squad.  Pat brings a level of commitment to the game that is shown on and off the field. Pat has 33 games as an AMCAT under his belt.

Coach Lange returns 11 players from last year's 5-12 squad, he looks to be highly competitive in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference. This is the first year for the AMCATS in the GNAC after leaving the Commonwealth Coast Conference, Anna Maria was ranked 6th in the GNAC pre-season poll.
