Lasers Topple AMCATS, 7-0

The Basics:

-The Lead: The Lasell College women's field hockey team continued its impressive start to the season with a 7-0 victory over Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) foe Anna Maria College on Saturday afternoon at Grellier Field.

How It Happened:

Collectively, the Lasers have yielded just one goal against thus far.

Both Cailin Flannery (Medford, N.J.) and sophomore Samantha Taylor (Hanover, Mass.) had multi-goal performances, contributing two goals apiece in the conference victory.

Taylor opened up the scoring for the Lasers in the 3rd minute of play of an assist from Nikki Pignone (Ipswich, Mass.) Less than two minutes later Erica Connors (South Berwick, Maine) scored off a corner to put the Lasers up 2-0.

In the 13th minute, Pignone scored off the rebound to give the Lasers a 3-0 lead, which they took into halftime.

Lasell controlled  the entire second half, adding four more goals to secure the win, including one from senior Erin Murray (Lexington, Mass.) in the 53rd minute.

Goalkeeper Bryanna Tobin (Deep River, Conn.) recorded 17 saves for the Amcats in 62:09 minutes of work, with Danielle Huston (Spencer, Mass.) adding one save in the final 7:51.  Denise Landry (New Milford, Conn.) had one save for the Lasers, and recorded her second shutout of the season.

Up Next:

The Lasers are back in action Tuesday as they host Clark University in a non-conference matchup at 4:00PM. Anna Maria will travel to New England College Tuesday afternoon for a 4:00PM start.
