AMCATS Lose Season Opener to Johnson & Wales at Home

PAXTON, Mass – Wednesday night marked the season and home opener for the Anna Maria women's soccer team who took on the 2017 GNAC regular season number one seed Johnson & Wales Wildcats on AMCAT Field. The 'Cats fell to their guests 13-0.

Anna Maria had one shot on goal, against a stout Wildcat defense, from Samantha Seniti (Medford, Mass) in the second half. Goalie Rachel Matloff (Grafton, Mass) saw 27 shots in the game, saving 14.

Johnson & Wales had seven goal scorers in the game. Jordan Restivo led the way with four goals in the game. Emily Zeblsky and Victoria Patriarca each had two of their own. Four other players scored in the game for the Wildcats. One of those goals scorers, Erin Quinty, had two assists in the game as well.

From the beginning of the game, the Wildcats were on the attack, opening the scoring in the 10th minute of play. Johnson & Wales went in to the half time break with a 6-0 advantage.

In the second half, the AMCAT were still unable to attack and the Wildcat offense took over, scoring seven more to lead them to a 13-0 win against AMC.

The AMCATS will host Newbury College on Friday, September 7th at 3:30pm on AMCAT Field.
