Softball Finish Season by Dropping Two to Saints

PAXTON, MA: On Friday afternoon, the Anna Maria College Softball team hosted the Emmanuel College Saints for a Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) doubleheader at the AMCATS Softball Field.

HIGHLIGHTS

• GAME 1
  • The AMCATS scored their lone run of the first game in the seventh inning. Graduate student first baseman Ashley Garcia (Cornwall, NY) led off with a single just inside the third base bag and moved to second when junior shortstop Eden Forget (Worcester, MA) walked. Graduate student second baseman Michelle Cilley (Dracut, MA) then moved both runners over with a ground out to second. Freshman center fielder Paige Stewart (Auburn, MA) singled into left field to score Garcia from third.
  • Garcia was one of two AMCATS with a multi-hit game in the first game. In addition to her lead-off single in the seventh, she also had a double to center field in the fourth. The other multi-hit player was graduate student pitcher Sabrina Liston (Rehoboth, MA) who singled to center in the first and then through the left side of the infield in the fourth.
• GAME 2
  • The AMCATS run in the second game came in the third inning. With one out, senior Kendall McNamee (Somers, CT) singled to right center, and then junior catcher Saylor Costa (East Providence, RI) followed with a single of her own to right center. Liston then added a single to left to load the bases before Garcia singled down the left-field line for her fifteenth RBI of the season.
  • Forget and Cilley had two hits apiece for the AMCATS in the season finale. Both players had a single and a double.
