HIGHLIGHTS

  • GAME 1:
    • In their first game of the day, the AMCATS needed extra frames to decide their matchup with the SUNY Potsdam Bears. Through regulation, both teams had found their way across the plate one time apiece. After the Bears scored their second run of the day in the top of the extra frame, the AMCATS rallied back for their second win of the season in walk-off fashion in the bottom of the inning.
    • Trailing by one run in the extra frame, the AMCATS opened the inning with pinch runner Aurora Van Wormer (Swift Current, SK) on second base. Sam Dahill was the second batter of the inning and worked the Bears pitcher for a walk to put runners at first and second and was then lifted for pinch runner Aine Manning (Carver, MA). With freshman standing on first and second, graduate student Michelle Cilley (Dracut, MA) proceeded to single back up the middle to score Van Wormer and move Manning to second.
    • Back to even, the AMCATS then went for the Bears' throat. Saylor Costa (East Providence, RI) singled to centerfield to load the bases full of AMCATS. Sabrina Liston (Rehoboth, MA) brought the hammer to finish up the Bears with an RBI single.
    • Eden Forget (Worcester, MA) recorded her first win of the season, striking out 4 while scattering nine hits and allowing only two earned runs while going the distance in the circle.
  • GAME 2:
    • In the second game of the day, the AMCATS entered the top of the seventh trailing by six runs before Forget got the AMCATS fans off their seats. On a 1-1 count Forget drove a deep shot down the right-field line. As Forget was pulling up content with a triple, the Cougars' second baseman dropped the relay throw and allowed Forget to fire the engine back up and slide in with the AMCATS' lone run of the game.
