Softball Splits With Bulldogs

Game 1:

WP (1-5): Jilian Glynn - 7.0 IP, 8 H, 6 R, 1 ER, 3 BB, 3 K, 1 HR
LP (1-6): Sabrina Liston – 5.1 IP, 8 H, 8 R, 8 ER, 4 BB, 8 K, 2 HR

The AMCATS were the first on the board after Paige Stewart capitalized on a throwing error at the top of the second inning. The Cats kept the momentum going into the third as Madison Romano Homered one out to left field sending Saylor Costa home for the AMCATS second and third runs of the evening. The Bulldogs barked back however putting up five runs in the bottom of the third to take the two run lead over the AMCATS.

The Bulldogs held the AMCATS scoreless for the next two innings. It wasn't until Rory Hughes smoked an RBI double to send Ashley Garcia home and pick the scoring back up for the Cats. Eden Forget joined in on the fun popping off a RBI single to send Hughes into home plate. Costa would end the AMCATS scoring for the night sending out an RBI single up the middle to help get Forget in for the AMCATS sixth run of the night. Unfortunately it wouldn't be enough for the win as the Bulldogs closed the game out 8-6 over the AMCATS 

Game 2:

WP (2-4): Eden Forget - 5.0 IP, 5 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 2 BB, 3 K
LP (1-3): Zoe Coleman – 0.1 IP, 5 H, 7 R, 3 ER, 0 BB, 0 K

After losing game one to the Bulldogs, the AMCATS came out on fire for game two putting up an astounding eight runs in the first inning. Saylor Costa started the scoring with an RBI double to send Sam Dahill in for run number one. Costa would later make her way home off a wild pitch for run number two. Next Ashley Garcia popped one over to left center for an RBI single allowing Sabrina Liston to make it home. Immediately after Madison Romano doubled down the left field line sending Garcia right back to home plate for the AMCATS fourth run of the inning. An Error from the left fielder allowed Eden Forget to reach first and Romano to run home. After a Bulldogs pitching change the AMCATS scored two quick runs off a passed ball and a wild pitch one right after another. Saylor Costa would make her way back into the batters box in the top of the first inning Singling one out to right field for the AMCATS final run of the inning as Sam Dahill was able to round third right into home off an error from the right fielder. The AMCATS closed out the inning leading over the Bulldogs 8-2. 

After an outstanding first inning, the AMCATS were held at eight runs until the fourth inning where Rory Hughes would bunt to send Ashley Garcia home for the AMCATS final run of the night. The game would get called off after five innings played due to the lighting on the field resulting in an AMCATS 9-2 win in five innings.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORES

  • Ashley Garcia and Saylor Costa are now tied with seven RBIs in thirteen games so far this season.
  • The AMCATS are 4-3 against the Bulldogs in their last seven meetings.

Anna Maria Softball will be back in action on Friday, March 31st where they will travel to Standish, ME for a double header against the Monks of St. Josephs College. Game one starts at 2:00PM.
