HIGHLIGHTS

  • GAME 1:
    • The AMCATS opened the day by exploding on the offensive side of the ball. Scoring 17 runs, the most that the team has scored in a game since they scored 21 runs against Elms College on March 8, 2020. The AMCATS scored in six of the game's seven innings, including a pair of five-run innings in the first and fourth.
    • With one out in the first inning, Saylor Costa (East Providence, RI) and Sabrina Liston (Rehoboth, MA) singled before Sam Dahill (Littleton, MA) walked to load the bases. Ashely Garcia (Cornwall, NY) was hit by a pitch to bring in Costa with the first run and Eden Forget (Worcester, MA) walked to bring in Liston with another. Two batters later Kendall McNamee (Somers, CT). brought home Dahill and Garcia with a single in right that put runners at the corners. A misguided pickoff attempt of Forget by the Inferno's catcher went high down the left-field line scoring the fifth run of the inning.
    • Costa was hit by a pitch to lead off the second inning and was pinch-run for by Shayla Blair (Conroe, TX). Liston then worked a walk and was pinch-run for by Suzette Scheer (Unionville, CT). Blair then came around to score on a sacrifice fly to deep left field by Garcia.
    • The AMCATS led off the third inning with another hit-by-pitch, this time it was Madison-Marie Romano (Lebanon, ME) accepting the bruise. An infield single by McNamee put runners at first and third. A sacrifice bunt from Rory Hughes (Worcester, MA) scored Romano. Michelle Cilley (Dracut, MA) lined to the shortstop but when the shortstop's attempt to throw behind Romano at second went into right field the freshman moved over to third where she scored on a single to left center by Costa.
    • A second five-run inning came for the AMCATS in the fourth. Garcia led off with a single and moved to second on a wild pitch before coming around to score on a single by Forget. Two batters later McNamee was hit by a pitch and pinch-run for by Aurora Van Wormer (Swift River, SK). Hughes then laid down a bunt single to load the bases for an RBI single by Cilley. Two batters later, a pair of singles from Dahill and Garcia would each drive in Cilley and Costa.
    • Two more two-run innings followed in the fifth and seventh innings but only served to increase the AMCATS margin of victory.
    • Liston went all seven innings, striking out eight to even her season record at 1-1.
  • GAME 2:
    • In the second game, the AMCATS scored their first run in the second inning to tie the game at a run apiece. Garcia reached on an error and moved to second on a wild pitch. An errant throw by the Panther's second baseman of a ground ball from Forget allowed Garcia to come all the way around.
    • Trailing 6-1 in the sixth the AMCATS again got on the scoreboard when Costa led off with a single and was pinch-run for by Scheer. Liston then followed up with a single before Scheer was cut down at third on a fielder's choice back to the pitcher by Dahill. Garcia then singled to left-center to bring Liston home.
