Foti, King, and Clancy Have Second-Straight Record Outing in 3-1 Win over Daniel Webster

Nashua, N.H. - Host Daniel Webster grabbed the opening set but Anna Maria rallied to capture the next three in pinning a 3-1 loss on the host Eagles Thursday night at Mario Vagge Gymnasium in a non-conference women's volleyball matchup.

AMCAT LEADERS

The AMCATS (4-5), who are winners of three of their last four, posted set scores of 24-26, 25-13, 25-21, and 25-21. The visitors were paced by a pair of monster efforts from Amari King (Lawrence, Mass.) and Rebecca Foti (Bedford, N.H.), who combined for 45 of the team's 57 kills on the night. King posted 23 and Foti hit for 22, respectively with King tying for the match high in digs with 16.

Freshman Tierney Clancy (Meriden, Conn.) racked up 46 assists with nine digs for the winners. Carolina Garcia (Springfield, Mass.) chipped in with 16 digs.

SHATTERING RECORDS

Tonight marks the second-straight match in which King, Foti and Clancy have broken single-match program records—King and Foti now sit atop the record books in kills in a match, topping former record-holder Sandy Acosta '14 who recorded 19 kills against Eastern Nazarene on September 1, 2011.

Clancy's 46 assists put her on top of the assists in a match record, topping Samantha Parker '16, who tallied 44 assists against MCLA on October 4, 2014.  

DANIEL WEBSTER LEADERS

Daniel Webster (4-4) was led by 20 kills, 15 digs and three aces from Maddie Roulier (Pittsfield, Mass.) while Hannah Koehler (Bedford, N.H.) added 13 kills and four blocks. Rebecca Hoffman (Chelmsford, Mass.) picked up five kills and 15 digs, Delany Ruiz added five kills and nine digs, and Nicole Beard (Shelton, Conn.) posted 43 assists.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Anna Maria hit .261 on the night while DWC managed just .180. The AMCATS posted their biggest damage in sets two and three hitting .357 and .343 respectively and never trailed in either. DWC, which had hit .378 in the first, went stone cold in the second (-.026), rebounded to .345 in the third but then went south again in the fourth (.087).

Foti posted six kills in the opener, eight in the second, three in the third and five in the fourth for Anna Maria while King followed with a 4-3-9-7 kill total across the four sets.

Roulier was steady with seven kills in the opener, five in the second and third, and cooled to three in the fourth.

The Eagles visit Suffolk on Saturday for a trimatch with Pine Manor starting at 11:00 a.m. Anna Maria hosts Newbury and Salem State on Saturday beginning at 10:00 a.m.
