Frederick Tabbed the GNAC Rookie of the Week

WINTHROP, Mass.—Freshman Nate Frederick (Worcester, Mass.) of the Anna Maria College baseball team was named the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Rookie of the Week, as announced by the league on Monday afternoon.

It marks the second time this season that an AMCAT freshman has been tabbed the league's top rookie, as teammate Tanner Jakola (Leominster, Mass.) earned the honor in the first week of the season.

Frederick had a monster day on Sunday against UMaine-Presque Isle. He batted 5-for-10 at the plate with a homerun, a triple, and two doubles and five runs batted in. In game one, Frederick hit a three-run walk-off homerun in extra-innings to lead the AMCATS to their fifth win of the season.

He also earned the start on the mound, throwing four complete innings with four strikeouts while giving up just one run.

On the season, Frederick has played in all 12 games and has compiled a team-leading .395 batting average. He has totaled 17 hits, eight runs, and sits atop the RBI category with eight alongside teammate David Julian (Sterling, Mass.).

The AMCATS (5-7) open GNAC play on Tuesday in a 3:00 p.m. doubleheader against Albertus Magnus College at the New England Baseball Complex.
