Men's Basketball Charges Past Rams, 88-79

BOSTON, Mass.—The Anna Maria College men's basketball team overcame a second-half deficit to down the Rams of Suffolk University 88-79 in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) action on Tuesday evening.

With the win, the AMCATS improve to 14-10 overall and 12-5 in GNAC play, while the loss drops the Rams to 8-15 overall and 5-11 in league action.

Five different AMCATS scored in double-figures, paced by junior Patrick Bradanese (Billerica, Mass.) with 21 points. Graduate student Quantez Franklin (South Yarmouth, Mass.) chipped in with 17 points, followed by junior Tyler Delorey (Worcester, Mass.) with 13. Freshman Youssef Fodaile (Worcester, Mass.) tallied 11 points off the bench, while Kyle McKissick (Charlton, Mass.) added 10 points.

Senior Michael Gorman (Methuen, Mass.) dished out five assists for the AMCATS.

Suffolk was paced by Branden Barboza's game-high 27 points. Jake Meister netted 15 points, while Matt Duquette and Adam Chick added 11 and 10 points, respectively.

The AMCATS were down at halftime and trailed by six points seven minutes into the second half. Five minutes later, at 8:49, the AMCATS tied the score at 65-65 on a free-throw by Franklin. Anna Maria would not trail from there, taking control of the score for the remainder of the game en route to the nine-point win.

Anna Maria trailed by two, 42-40, at halftime. The game saw 11 ties and 14 lead changes over the 40 minutes. The AMCATS shot at 47.8 percent (32-67), while Suffolk managed a 35.9 percent effort from the floor (23-64).

The AMCATS held a 36-26 advantage in points in the paint and a 25-10 advantage in bench points, while the Rams held leads in second-chance points (16-12) and fast-break points.

Anna Maria returns to action on Saturday when it hosts Albertus Magnus in at 3:00 p.m. The team will honor its seniors in a brief ceremony prior to tip-off.
