Becker Soars Past Men's Basketball, 72-53

LEICESTER, Mass. – David Maturah (Windsor Locks, Conn.) scored a game-high 20 points as Becker College defeated Anna Maria College 72-53 in men's basketball action Friday evening. The win lifts the Hawks record to 2-1, while the AMCATS record moves to 1-3.

The Becker defense didn't allow a single AMCAT to score in double figures, while Hawks had three players in double digits. Becker held onto the lead the entire game, taking as much as a 12 point lead in the first half.

The AMCATS made things interesting early in the second half when they went on a 7-1 run, cutting the Hawks lead to 37-32 with 16:14 remaining in regulation. Becker responded with a 9-0 run of their own to take a 46-32 advantage with 12:29 left on the clock.

With 7:36 remaining, Corey Pryor (Northbridge, Mass.) cut the AMCATS deficit to nine when he came off the bench to hit a jumper. The Anna Maria excitement was short lived as David Maturah brought the crowd to their feet with a tantalizing dunk to put Becker in front 56-45.

Becker finished the game on a 14-7 run to capture the 72-53 win victory.  Kyle Credle (Queens, N.Y.) finished with 12 points, while Jessey Michaud (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.) chipped in with 11 points including a game high eight rebounds. Scott Dulaire came off the bench to score nine points.

Hugh Daye (Worcester, Mass.), Trevon Farley (Lawrence, Mass.), Pryor and Kyle McKissick (Charlton, Mass.) each scored a team high eight points.

Both teams return to action on Tuesday, November 25 at 4:00 p.m. Becker will travel to Babson College, while the AMCATS host cross-town rival Clark University.
