Men's Basketball Handles Wildcats 79-58

PAXTON, MA. – On Saturday, January 13th the Anna Maria College men's basketball team hosted the Johnson and Wales University Wildcats at the Fuller Center in Paxton, MA for a Great Northeast Athletic Conference Matchup. The AMCATS won the game 79-58.

The AMCATS took the lead early in the game as they slowly began pulling away from the Wildcats throughout the first half. Ray Carter Jr. and Gabe Armstead combined for thirteen points each as they helped the AMCATS outscore Johnson and Wales 41-31. The AMCATS performed much better than the Wildcats inside the paint posting a 50% FGM over the Wildcats 37.9%. 

After the intermission the Wildcats came out with a strong start however the AMCATS quickly regained control of the game as they continued to grow their lead, outscoring the Wildcats by ten yet again. Armstead posted yet another thirteen point half to help the AMCATS secure the win as the game came to a close with a score of 79-58 in favor of the AMCATS.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE

  • Gabe Armstead led the charge for the AMCATS with 26 points going 12-17 inside the paint.
  • Ray Carter Jr. went 4-9 outside the arc.
  • The win marks the AMCATS first Conference win of the season.

WHAT'S NEXT: 

The AMCATS will be back in action on Tuesday, January 16th where they will head north to Nashua, NH to take on the Rivier University Raiders for a Great Northeast Athletic Conference Matchup. Opening tipoff is set for 7:00pm.
