Cougars Scratch Passed Men’s Basketball 87-76

PAXTON, MA. – On Tuesday, November 21st the Anna Maria College men's basketball team hosted the Clark University Cougars for their annual Thanksgiving Matchup. the AMCATS lost the game 87-76.

The Cougars took the lead early in the game outscoring the AMCATS 43-34 at the end of the first half. Ray Carter Jr. gave the AMCATS a push in the first half scoring 14 points in an attempt to shorten the Cougars lead. Jopaul Mckrieth went four for six on on the free throw line in the first half. Despite the strong performance from Carter Jr. and Mckrieth the AMCATS struggled on offense only shooting 36% in field goal territory.

After the intermission the AMCATS picked things up, keeping a tighter game with the Cougars. However still trailing throughout the second half, the AMCATS were unable to close the gap. Surging for the AMCATS in the second half was Mckrieth scoring twenty points shooting a perfect 4 for 4 on the free throw line while also going 8-12 in field goals. The AMCATS collectively saw better shooting in the second half making 45% of their shots however the Cougars would still close the game out with an eleven point lead.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE

  • Jopaul McKrieth went 8-10 on the free throw line and had 28 points.
  • Ray Carter Jr. went 3-5 outside the arc and totaled 18 points on the night.
