Men's Basketball Closes Out First Semester With 99-76 Win Over Trailblazers

PAXTON, MA - On Monday, December 11th, the Anna Maria College men's basketball team hosted the MCLA Trailblazers at the Fuller Center in Paxton, MA. the AMCATS won the game 99-76.

The AMCATS dominated the first half of the game, outscoring the Trailblazers 50-34. Continuing to add to their lead right down to the final second, the AMCATS would close out the first half with an astonishing three point buzzer beater from Gabe Armstead that brought the game into the second half. From there, the AMCATS would maintain control of the game, outscoring the Trailblazers 49-42 in the second half to help secure the win.

Ray Carter Jr. and Jayden Dickerson were the leading scorers for the AMCATS, both contributing 22 points. Carter Jr. was efficient from beyond the arc, making 5 of his 7 three-point attempts. Dickerson also had a strong shooting performance, making 8 of 12 field goal attempts. Jopaul Mckrieth had a noteworthy performance as well boasting 16 points and a team-high of 7 rebounds.

On the MCLA side, Dylan Morris-Gray had the highest point total with 24 points. He shot 9 of 21 from the field and made 2 of his 8 three-point attempts. Quentin Gittens also made an impact with 14 points, 11 rebounds, and 4 assists.

The AMCATS had the upper hand in several statistical categories. They had a higher shooting percentage, making 59% of their field goal attempts compared to MCLA's 36.1%. Anna Maria was also more effective from beyond the arc, making 52.2% of their three-point attempts compared to MCLA's 28.1%. Additionally, Anna Maria had more rebounds, assists, and steals than MCLA.
