Men’s Basketball Can’t Hang On Against Raiders

NASHUA, NH. – On Wednesday, January 17th the Anna Maria College men's basketball team traveled to Nashua, NH to take on the Rivier University Raiders for a Great Northeast Athletic Conference matchup. The AMCATS lost the game 73-68.

The Raiders took the early jump on the AMCATS in the first half setting the tone for the evening. From there the game would be a back and forth struggle for the AMCATS with the Raiders slowly taking the lead as the half battled on. Tied up at 31 points a piece, the Raiders closed out the first half with a three pointer to take the 34-31 lead as the half came to a close.

The AMCATS tied the game up early in the second half as they worked towards taking the lead over the Raiders. However the lead would be short live and the Raiders quickly tied things up. From there the AMCATS continuously fought for control of the game as each team exchanged blow after blow. It wouldn't be until the final minutes of the game that the Raiders took a definitive lead over the AMCATS as they slowly pulled away. As the game came to a close, the Raiders ended up on top with a score of 73-68.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE

  • Gabe Armstead led the charge for the AMCATS with 19 points, shooting a perfect 5 for 5 on the free throw line.
  • Jaybed Dickerson and Jopaul McKrieth posted 15 points a piece in the AMCATS effort.

WHAT'S NEXT: 

The AMCATS will be back in action on Saturday, January 20th where they will make their way over to Newton, MA to take on the Lasell University Lasers for a Great Northeast Athletic Conference matchup. Opening tip off is set for 4:00pm.
