Pride Squeak Past Men’s Basketball 65-63

PAXTON, MA. – On Saturday, January 6th the Anna Maria College men's basketball team hosted the Regis College Pride at the Fuller Center for a Great Northeast Athletic Conference matchup. The AMCATS lost the game 65-63.

In a tight race throughout the first half of the game, the AMCATS narrowly came out on top as they led by just two points going into the intermission. Anna Maria started the first half strong, taking an early lead over the Pride. As the Pride began building up some momentum the AMCATS maintained their lead up until the end of the half.

The close start to the game wouldn't be enough to keep the AMCATS on top as the Pride tied things up early on and began taking control of the game. The AMCATS clawed their way back managing ti tie the game back up at 60 a piece before the Pride regained control. The game came down to free throws resulting in the AMCATS coming up short by just two points. The final score would end up being 65-63 in favor of the Pride.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE

  • Gabe Armstead led the AMCATS with 17 points going 7-11 inside the paint.
  • Ray Carter Jr. was next in line with 12 points shooting 50% outside the arc.

WHAT'S NEXT: 

The AMCATS will be back in action on Wednesday, January 10th where they will head down to West Hartford, CT to take on the University of Saint Joseph (CT) Bluejays for a Great Northeast Athletic Conference matchup. Opening tipoff is set for 7:00pm.
