Fodaile Tabbed as ECAC New England Rookie of the Week

DANBURY, Conn.— Freshman Youssef Fodaile (Worcester, Mass.) of the Anna Maria College men's basketball team has added ECAC New England Rookie of the Week honors to a decorated week, as announced by the league's office on Tuesday afternoon.

Yesterday, Fodaile was tabbed as the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Rookie of the Week. He becomes the first member if his team to earn a conference weekly nod this season.

Fodaile was instrumental in the AMCATS' 105-104 overtime win against St. Joseph's on Saturday. The freshman forward tallied 19 points off the bench on a 6-for-10 effort from the floor and also hit two crucial free-throws with 34 seconds remaining in regulation to tie the game at 95-95 and force overtime.

In the 2-0 week, Fodaile averaged 10.5 points and 4.5 rebounds per game and shot 53.8 percent overall. This season, Fodaile has played in all 18 games. He is averaging 7.1 points per game on a 49.5 percent effort from the floor.

The AMCATS (11-7 overall, 10-2 GNAC) have won nine-straight games this season and travel to Norwich on Wednesday, February 4th for a 7:00 p.m. league contest. Anna Maria returns to home action on Saturday, Feb. 7 at 3:00 p.m. against Rivier.
