Men's Basketball Takes 78-63 win against Rivier

NASHUA, N.H.—The Anna Maria College men's basketball team hit nine three-point baskets and secured their seventh-straight win on Thursday evening, downing the Raiders of Rivier University 78-63 in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) action.

With the win, the AMCATS improve to 9-7 overall and 7-2 in GNAC play, while the loss drops the Raiders to 3-13 overall and 2-7 in league action.

Junior Patrick Bradanese (Billerica, Mass.) paced the AMCATS with a game-high 24 points on an 8-for-13 effort from the floor with four three-pointers and four free-throws. Senior Quantez Franklin (South Yarmouth, Mass.) hit 6-of-8 from the floor and added five free-throws for 17 points, while junior Tyler Delorey (Worcester, Mass.) added 13 points. Freshman Youssef Fodaile (Worcester, Mass.) chipped in with 11 points off the bench.

Rivier saw a team-best 12 points from Jake Nelson. Andre Ruff added 11 points, while Matthew Manning scored 10 points off the bench.

The AMCATS took a comfortable lead in the early minutes of the first half, but the Raiders overcame a nine-point deficit to tie the score at 25-25 with 8:41 on the clock. Anna Maria responded with six-straight points to open the gap back up, and the AMCATS cruised to a 41-35 halftime lead.

Bradanese would open the second half with back-to-back three-pointers, and Pedro Trindade (Billerica, Mass.) added a jumper to put the AMCATS up 49-35 before the Raiders recorded a second-half basket. With 14:49 remaining Rivier cut their deficit to seven points, but it was the closest they would get as Anna Maria maintained a double-digit lead for the rest of the game.

Anna Maria connected on 27 of 55 field goals (49.1 percent) over the full 40 minutes, while the Raiders shot at 48.0 percent (24-50). Anna Maria connected on nine three-pointers in 22 attempts, while Rivier connected for three in 15 attempts.

The AMCATS will be back in action on Saturday, January 24th for a GNAC game against the Saints of Emmanuel College. Tip-off is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. at the Fuller Activities Center.
