Women’s Lacrosse Ends Season At Rivier

NASHUA, NH: The Anna Maria College women's lacrosse team concluded their 2022 season with a 13-11 loss at Rivier University on Tuesday evening in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) action at Joanne Merrill Field in Nashua, New Hampshire.

THE BASICS:

  • Records: Raiders of Rivier 4-11, 3-10 GNAC | AMCATS of Anna Maria 3-15, 1-12 GNAC    

HIGHLIGHTS:

  • Down 11-6 late in the third quarter, the AMCATS came roaring back, exploding on a 4-1 run.  Down three with two minutes left, Anna Maria scored again to stay in the game. That was as close as Anna Maria could get, however, as Rivier closed it out for the win.
  • Playing in the final game of her celebrated collegiate career, Anna Maria senior midfielder Ashley Rufo (Pittsfield, MA) scored five goals on the night with four ground balls and two caused turnovers. She concludes her time at Anna Maria third all-time in career goals, assists, points and ground balls, and holds the school record in caused turnovers.  
  • Anna Maria junior goalkeeper Ashley Sheehan (Medford, MA) finished with 12 saves, her second-highest total in a game this season.
  • Anna Maria junior attacker Alice Yokabaskas (Farmingdale, ME) posted a hat trick with three goals. Yokabaskas scored twice in the final eight minutes to keep the AMCATS in the game.
  • Anna Maria senior attacker Jenna Grande (Whitman, MA) scored twice, while senior midfielder Riley Cote (Tewksbury, MA) also found the back of the net for her ninth goal of the season.
