Women's LAX Fail to Hold On Against The Pride

WESTON, MA: The Anna Maria College women's lacrosse team lost 16-12 on Saturday in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) action at Regis College.

 HIGHLIGHTS

  • The AMCATS enjoyed a 4-3 lead after the first quarter thanks to goals from Senior midfielder Ashley Rufo (Pittsfield, MA), junior attacker Alice Yokabaskas (Farmingdale, ME), sophomore attacker Kyana Altif (Whitinsville, MA), and senior midfielder Riley Cote (Tewksbury, MA).

 INSIDE THE NUMBERS

  • Yokabaskas (Farmingdale, ME) led the AMCATS with four goals on a team-high six shots.
  • Rufo (Pittsfield, MA) had two free position shot goals to increase her team-leading total to 23 on the year. She added an assist on Yokabaskas' second-period goal to increase her team-leading point total to 29.
  • Sophomore midfielder Raegan Hachey (Winthrop, ME) scored for the fifth time in four games.
  • Senior attacker Jenna Grande (Whitman, MA) scored her first collegiate goal on a free position shot in the second quarter.
  • The third-period goal by freshman midfielder Riley Michaud (Clinton, MA) continued her pattern of scoring every other game this season. The goal was her 11th of the year.
  • Sophomore goalkeeper Sarah Burt (Plymouth, MA) had 16 saves and recorded two ground balls.
  • The Pride used a 6-1 fourth quarter to take over the game, scoring six unanswered goals to set the final score.

The AMCATS will return to the field on Tuesday, April 5th when they will travel to the University of St. Joseph for a 6 pm game.
