Rufo's Hat Trick Leads Women's Lacrosse Past MCLA

North Adams, MA: The Anna Maria College softball team scored four goals in both the opening and closing periods as they powered past the MCLA Trailblazers 10-4 this afternoon.

HIGHLIGHTS:

  • Trailing 1-0 at the time, senior midfielder Riley Cote (Tewksbury, MA) got the AMCATS on the scoreboard with her second goal of the year with 8:05 to go in the first period. Jenna Grande (Whitman, MA) was credited with the assist.
  • Twenty five seconds later junior attacker Alice Yokabaskas (Farmingdale, ME) put the AMCATS in front for good with her fourth goal of the year.
  • Senior midfielder Ashley Rufo (Pittsfield, MA) recorded her second hat trick of the season, increasing her team lead to 11 goals. She also added an assist on the first of sophomore midfielder Abriana Morgan's (Merrimack, NH) goals.
  • MCLA's Brooke DiGennaro had a hat trick for the Trailblazers. DiGennaro's third goal made  the score 7-4 which would be a close as the game would get as the AMCATS scored three more unanswered goals, two from Rufo and one from freshman midfielder Riley Michaud (Clinton, MA).

UP NEXT:

The AMCATS will return to the field on Saturday, March 12th when they will play host to Emmanuel College at Caparso Field at noon.
