Saints Drop Women’s Lacrosse Amidst Snowfall

PAXTON, MA: The Anna Maria College women's lacrosse team lost 15-1 on Saturday afternoon in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) action at Caparso Field in Paxton.

HIGHLIGHTS:

  • Anna Maria senior midfielder Ashley Rufo (Pittsfield, MA) scored her ninth goal of the year to avoid the shutout on an unassisted shot with 12:18 to go in the third quarter. It was one of just three shots on the day for the AMCATS. Rufo was also credited with two caused turnovers.
  • Anna Maria sophomore goalkeeper Sarah Burt (Plymouth, MA) finished with a season-high 11 saves in just 45 minutes.
  • Anna Maria sophomore midfielder Raegan Hachey (Winthrop, ME) led the AMCATS with five groundballs.
  • The Saints were off and running in the opening minutes, jumping out to a 2-0 lead from goals by junior Ali Bergin (Newbury, Mass.) and the first of the career by first-year Deja Srimouksavanh (Portsmouth, N.H.). All part of a four-goal, first quarter, as EC lead 4-0 after 15 minutes.
  • Emmanuel added seven more goals in the second quarter, including two each by senior Chandra Franca (Woburn, Mass.), junior Megan Steele (Auburn, Maine), and sophomore Alyssa Hogan (Westboro, Mass.). For Hogan, the pair of goals account for the first and second of the career for the sophomore attack, as EC led 11-0 at the break.
  • Action was called after three quarters due to snowfall.

Anna Maria will be back on the field on Tuesday when they host Lasell University in a 4:00 p.m. game.
