Rufo’s Hat Trick Not Enough As Women’s Lacrosse Drops To Bison

PAXTON, MA: The Anna Maria College women's lacrosse team lost 15-4 to visiting Nichols College on Thursday evening in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) action at Caparso Field in Paxton.

HIGHLIGHTS:

  • Anna Maria senior midfielder Ashley Rufo (Pittsfield, MA), playing in the penultimate home game of her storied career, recorded a hat trick of three goals to go along with two ground balls and two caused turnovers. It is the eighth time this season that Rufo has scored three or more times in a game, as she leads the AMCATS with 39 goals.
  • Nichols senior attacker Sam Ahaesy (North Dartmouth, MA) led the Bison with five goals and an assist.
  • Anna Maria junior attacker Alice Yokabaskas (Farmingdale, ME) tallied a goal, four ground balls, two draw controls and two caused turnovers on the evening.
  • Nichols senior attacker Brooke Pelley (Townsend, MA) filled the stat line with two goals, five assists and two ground balls.
  • Anna Maria sophomore midfielder Raegan Hachey (Winthrop, ME) recorded an assist, four ground balls, two draw control and two caused turnovers.
  • Nichols junior midfielder Mackenzie Doran (Wolfeboro, NH) contributed two goals, two assists and five ground balls.
  • Anna Maria sophomore goalkeeper Sarah Burt (Plymouth, MA) tallied seven saves on the evening.

Anna Maria will be back on the field on Saturday when they host Colby-Sawyer College in a 12:00 p.m. game.
