FIELD HOCKEY FALLS TO SHARKS 5 TO 0

BOSTON, MA. – The Anna Maria College Field Hockey team traveled down to Boston, MA on October 26th, 2024, to take on the Sharks of Simmons University. The AMCATS lost the game 5-0. 

 With no goals in the first quarter, the AMCATS managed to keep the Sharks at bay with goaltending Carly Dedrick stopping 4 scoring opportunities in the first fifteen minutes. The AMCATS managed to get a shot on goal from Morgan Beane, but the Sharks goalie would come out strong and deny that AMCAT opportunity. After regrouping for the second quarter, the AMCATS were met with one goal from the Sharks to put them on the board first against the AMCATS. The AMCATS goalie and defensive play would keep the Sharks limited to just one goal in the first two quarters of the game. Now trailing by one, the AMCATS remained scoreless and would only get one shot on the Shark goalie after thirty minutes of play.

 Hoping to recover after the intermission the AMCATS would look to come out strong offensively against the Sharks. It would be all Sharks in the second half finding the back of the net four times against the AMCATS. The AMCATS would try to battle back, and get one on the board against the Sharks, but the Sharks defense would limit the AMCATS to just one shot and no scoring opportunities which would result in the AMCATS falling to the Sharks with a score of 5 to 0. 

 BEYOND THE BOX SCORE:

• Carly Dedrick would make 12 saves in the match against the Sharks. 
• The AMCATS would be outshot 21-1 to the Sharks. 
• The AMCATS have been held scoreless in their last three games.
• The AMCATS have only one game left in their regular season this year. 

COMING UP:

The AMCATS will be back in action on Wednesday October 30th, 2024 where they will host the Pride of Regis College for a Great Northeast Athletic Conference matchup. Game is set to start at 6:00pm. This game will mark the last regular season game for the AMCATS field hockey team this season.
