Colby-Sawyer Chargers Past Field Hockey 8 to 1

PAXTON, MA – On October 5, 2024, the Anna Maria College field hockey traveled to New London, NH to take on the Chargers of Colby-Sawyer. The AMCATS lost the game 8 to 1.

The Chargers would have total control in the first quarter against the AMCATS. It would be the Chargers to strike first scoring thirty-seven seconds into the game. It would be multiple opportunities from the Chargers, where they would connect again before time would run out in the first quarter for their second goal of the game. The Chargers would outshoot the AMCATS in the first quarter 8 to 0. 

The second quarter for the AMCATS would be defensive base as Carly Dedrick in goal for the AMCATS would stop multiple shots and opportunities for the Bears in the first few minutes of the second quarter, keeping the Chargers up by two on the AMCATS. It would be the pressure, and constant push by the Chargers, that they would strike again against the AMCATS increasing their lead 3 to 0 on the AMCATS. The game would continue, with constant Charger pressure, as they would add to their lead against the AMCATS scoring their 4th goal of the game. The AMCATS would continue to fight, and push not letting down against the Chargers, to find their first opportunity of the game. It would be the AMCATS to find their first and only penalty corner of the game against the Chargers. It would be Katelyn Melvin to start the penalty corner for the AMCATS putting the ball into play, it would then be Nicole LaCoste to get a pass from Kennedy Etheridge to find the back of the net for the AMCATS. That would get the AMCATS on the board against the Chargers. The AMCATS now trailing the Chargers 4 to 1. That would close out the scoring in the second quarter for both teams, ending the second quarter 4 to 1, with the Chargers in the lead. 

The third and fourth quarters of the game, would be all Chargers, as they would limit the AMCATS to only one more shot in the game. The AMCATS would continue to fight defensively but ultimately the Chargers would find the back of the net four more times before the game would end. That would increase the Chargers lead against the AMCATS by a score of 8 to 1. That would conclude the scoring and the game against the Chargers with the AMCATS falling to the Chargers of Colby-Sawyer 8 to 1. 

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE: 

  • Carly Dedrick had 15 saves against the Chargers.
  • Nicole LaCoste would score her first goal of the season for the AMCATS. That would be the seventh goal of LaCoste career as an AMCAT. 
  • The AMCATS have not beaten the Chargers in over eight years. 

COMING UP:

The AMCATS will be back in action on Saturday October 12, 2024, where they will host the Raiders of Rivier University for a Great Northeast Athletic Conference matchup. The seniors of Anna Maria College will be honor during this game. The game is set to start at 12:00pm.
