Marybeth Brandt Named Head Field Hockey Coach

PAXTON, MA - The Anna Maria College Athletic Department is pleased to announce the hiring of alumnus Marybeth Brandt (McClune) '13 as the new head field hockey coach.

"I am excited to get going!  It's an honor to be back at Anna Maria once again, commented Brandt. "The level of support that has already been shown, makes the opportunity to work with these student athletes so amazing. It feels good to be home!"

Marybeth served as an assistant coach at Anna Maria with Coach Sharon Zenevitch during the 2013 and 2014 seasons while helping the team to a 15-7 record in 2013, an NECC championship and a trip to the NCAA Tournament for the first time in Anna Maria history. During the 2014 season, the AMCATS went 13-10 and was the GNAC Tournament Runner-up and made an appearance in the ECAC Tournament. In addition, she has former club field hockey coaching experience for Worcester Field Hockey and Worcester White Hawks.

Marybeth scored 39 career goals during her four years as an AMCAT and scored 20 goals during her senior year. She was part of the team that went 14-8 in 2012 en route to the NECC championship and the AMCATS made a trip to the ECAC Tournament. She was named NECC Tournament MVP after scoring two goals in the championship game. Marybeth was named conference Player of the Year during her senior season and was named to the all-conference first team. In addition, she was named 2012-2013 team MVP and 2013 Anna Maria Female Athlete of the Year.

"I am excited to add Marybeth to our staff as the new field hockey head coach. She is excited to hit the ground running and is looking forward to leading the program that meant so much to her as an alum, commented Joseph Brady '96, Director of Athletics. "I am confident that her passion and commitment to Anna Maria and the field hockey program will serve our field hockey student athletes well."
