COMPLETE GNAC RELEASE

WINTHROP, Mass.—Freshman Rebecca Foti (Bedford, N.H.) of the Anna Maria College volleyball team was named the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Co-Rookie of the Week, as announced by the league office on Monday afternoon.

It marks the first time that an AMCAT volleyball player has garnered this weekly honor.

Foti helped lead the AMCATS to a 3-0 week and contributed both offensively and defensively. She totaled 19 kills on the week, averaging 2.11 kills per set and hit .141. Defensively, she paced the AMCATS with a team-high 37 digs, averaging 4.11 digs per set. In addition, she totaled a team-best seven service aces on the week.

The freshman had her best outing of the week in the team's 3-0 win against Becker, when she totaled eight kills, 13 digs, and a match-high six service aces. She added 14 digs and five kills in the team's 3-0 win against Suffolk, and added six kills and 10 digs against Eastern Nazarene.

Foti has been a workhorse for the AMCATS this season. She leads the team in kills (141) and kills per set (1.96), ranks second on the squad in service aces with 30, and has contributed 145 digs and 11 blocks to the AMCATS' defense.

Anna Maria (11-9, 2-4 GNAC) is having one of its best seasons to-date, and is one-win shy of setting a new program record for wins in a season.

The AMCATS will be back in action on Tuesday, October 14th when they travel to the University of Saint Joseph (Conn.) for a 7:00 p.m. GNAC match. The team will also host Worcester State on Thursday at 7:00 p.m. and Albertus Magnus on Saturday at 10:00 a.m.
