Rapoza Receives Conference Honors

WINTHROP, Mass – Monday morning the Great Northeast Athletic Conference released their season honors. Sophomore forward Mike Rapoza (Charlton, Mass) received multiple honors.

Joining Albertus Magnus senior forward Jaqhawn Walters, Johnson & Wales junior Brian Hogan-Gary, Lasell sophomore Stefan Masciarelli, and Saint Joe's (Maine) junior Darian Berry, Mike Rapoza was named to the GNAC All-Conference First Team.

Mike ranked second in the GNAC in scoring with 18.8 points per game, second in rebounding with 14.1 rebounds per game, first in field-goal percentage at 63.2%, and first in blocks with just under two blocks per game. Rapoza had 22 double-doubles, and on February 20 was named the USBWA National Player of the Week after a stretch in which he made 26 straight field goals – a new NCAA Division III record – including an 18-of-18 performance against Mount Ida College on Feb. 13 in a victory that sealed the AMCATS playoff hopes.

Rapoza, who followed up his 2017 GNAC Rookie of the Year campaign with an incredible sophomore season, was also named the 2018 GNAC Defensive Player of the Year by the league's head coaches.

After just two seasons in Paxton, Mike has played in all 52 games in his career, starting in 51. He has scored 934 points, grabbed 697 rebounds and blocked 64 shots. He is a career 63.1% shooter from the field and hits 67.5% from the free throw line. He will look to continue his dominance in his junior year with the 'Cats.
