AMC Posts Highest Point Total in Loss to Nichols

PAXTON, Mass – The AMCATS hosted the Bison Saturday afternoon in the Fuller Center on the Campus of snow Anna Maria College in Paxton. While things looked good at first for the 'Cats, Nichols was able to pull away and outshoot the home team for the 106-76 victory.

The AMCATS were led by sophomore forward Mike Rapoza (Charlton, Mass) who posted a double-double on the day with 17 points and 13 rebounds. Rapoza also dished out five assists. Senior forward Kenneth Graham (West Haven, Conn) also went in to double-digit points with 14, shooting seven-of-15 form the floor. Junior forward, Sidney Limage (Randolph, Mass) had nine points for the home team while senior guard Liam Pickett (Oxford, Mass) was able to score eight for the 'Cats.

For the Bison, it was junior guard Marcos Echevarria (Lynn, Mass) leading all scorers with 26 points. He shot nine-of-19 from the floor, five-for-12 from beyond the arch. Also reaching the 20-point mark for the visitors was senior guard Daequan Antoine (Fort Mill, S.C.). Nichols had two other starters score double digit points, sophomore guard DeAnte Burton (New London, Conn) and sophomore guard Tyler Dion (Barre, Mass) who scored 19 and 15 respectively. Off the bench for the visitors, freshman forward Matt Morrow (Leicester, Mass) scored 13 points and grabbed eight boards.

In the first half the AMCATS were able to run with the Bison for the first 15 minutes of the half keeping within five points. It was back and forth scoring with AMC answering every time down the floor. At 15-minute mark of the first half, however, Nichols began to pull away with Echevarria hitting two big threes to help put his team up by 13 at the break, 51-38.

At the start of the second half the game seemed in reach for the 'Cats. The home team was spreading the ball around with a handful of players scoring to cut the deficit down in the first five minutes of the half. That's when the Bison took over the contest and seemed to be able to score at will. While the AMCATS played a sound game on both ends of the court the Bison were just too much for them ultimately pulling out to a 30-point lead and leaving snowy Paxton with the 106-76 victory to improve to 8-1 on the year. With the Loss AMC drops to 2-6 on the season.

The AMCATS will be off until the 29th of December when they will travel to Utica, N.Y. to play in a tournament presented by Utica College. They will play at 4pm on the 29th against the hosts, Utica.
