AMCATS, PRIDE Duel to a 2-2 OT Draw

Paxton, Mass. – Freshman Gregory Cory (Beacon, NY) netted his first collegiate goal and assist to help lead Anna Maria College to a 2-2 draw against visiting Regis College in non-conference men's soccer action on Wednesday afternoon at Alumni Field.

 

Cory put Anna Maria up 1-0 when he converted a penalty kick after the Pride had committed a foul inside the box. The first year defenseman calmly delivered a strike top  shelf, right side past Regis netminder Stefan Todorovic (Los Angeles, Calif.) at 15:09 of the first period.

 

Regis (1-5-1) knotted the score at 1-all just under ten minutes later. Sophomore Kenny Charon (West Warwick, RI)powering down the right wing found teammate Renato Rosas (Fort Lauderdale, FL) in the middle with a well placed ball, and the sophomore midfielder found the back of the cage low to the right side.

 

Anna Maria would take the lead again in the 39th minute. Senior Justin Hyland (Leicester, Mass.) converted a pass from Cory for his fifth marker of the season.

 

With just over ten minutes to play in regulation, Regis once again evened the score. With a free kick from midfield Rosas delivered a strike to freshman Prince Mukala (Malden, Mass.) who headed the ball top shelf past the AMC goaltender Andrew Dahl.

 

The teams would play two scoreless overtimes for the 2-2 final.

 

Regis held the in shots (15-11) and corner kicks (11-4) in the 110 minutes of play. Todorovic posted three saves on the afternoon while Dahl had five in the double overtime tie.

 

Anna Maria returns to action on Saturday afternoon when the host GNAC foe Suffolk University at 12:00pm, Regis will head to Elms College on Saturday as well for a NECC match-up slated for 1:30pm.
