Baseball Takes Down D’Youville with Holland Picking up 100th Hit

AUBURNDALE, FL: The Anna Maria baseball team dominated nonconference opponent D'Youville this afternoon 21-10 after racking up 26 total hits on 52 total at bats for a .500 average as a team.  

 THE BASICS:

Records: D'Youville (0-3), Anna Maria (4-2)

HOW IT HAPPENED:

-  The AMCATS quickly tallied 11 runs through the first six innings while holding the Spartans to no hits through six.

-  In the bottom of the sixth Anna Maria struggled to find the strike zone and walked the bases loaded and proceeded to walk their opponents. They gave up six hits as well in the inning allowing D'Youville to creep up and be just one run down at 11-10.

-  After the 10 run inning, the AMCATS shut it back down and went back to work at the plate to pick up another eight in the seventh and two more in the eighth to run rule the Spartans and end it early after eight innings.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

-  Bryce Little got the loss this afternoon after 5 innings of work allowing 3 earned runs on nine hits.

-  Fili Veras (Sleepy Hollow, NY) got the win after a 5 inning performance of no hit baseball and 8 strikeouts.

-  Noah Holland (Sandwich, MA) joined the 100 hit club this afternoon after going 4-for-7 and 3 RBI's.

Connor Egan (Modes, CT) had 2 at bats today and came up huge with the bases loaded and tallied 4 RBI's with 3 coming on a single to the right center field gap and the last coming on another single later on.

UP NEXT:

- Anna Maria returns to action Wednesday against Pitt-Greensburg at Lake Myrtle Park with the first pitch coming at 9:30 AM.
