Baseball Splits with Oneonta

- SANFORD, FL: The Anna Maria baseball team split with Oneonta State this afternoon. They dropped the first game and won the second against the nonconference opponent from New York.

 THE BASICS:

- Date: 3/12/2020

- Score: Oneonta 14, Anna Maria 7 (Game One), Anna Maria 7, Oneonta 2 (Game Two).  

- Records: Oneonta (4-5), Anna Maria (6-3)

HOW IT HAPPENED: GAME ONE

-  The Red Dragons put together to big innings in game one to come away with the victory. Their largest inning came in the third when they scored seven runs after a couple of AMCAT errors kept the inning alive.  

-  Anna Maria had their biggest inning in the fifth when they pushed across four runs. They tacked on another two in the seventh to finish it at 14-7.

- Dominic Lamonica tallied four hits on five at bats along with hitting in four of his teammates.

- Jason Shell (Sandwich, MA) lead the team in RBI's with three after getting two hits after three at bats.

- Dean Langman got the win for Oneonta after five innings of work after nine hits and four earned.

- Adam Twitchell (Shrewsbury, MA) got the loss after going two innings allowing eight hits and five earned runs.

 HOW IT HAPPENED: GAME TWO

-   The AMCATS got on the board first in the first inning when they scored on an error by their third basemen. Anna Maria extended their lead in the fourth and fifth innings when they plated two in the fourth and another four in the fifth.

- The Red Dragons scored their two run on a two run homerun by Johnathan Lezette in the fifth inning.

- Lezette led Oneonta with his one hit and two RBI's.

- Twitchell, Noah Holland (Sandwich, MA), and Shell led the club in hits through game one and two. Twitch ended the day with three hits in game two and two runs batted in. Holland had two hits with one RBI. Shell added three more hits to his stat line for the day.

- Logan Carriero got the loss for Oneonta after four innings of work and allowing eight hits and three earned runs.

- Joe Dorman (Sandwich, MA) got his first collegiate after going 4.2 innings allowing just three hits and just two earned.

- Anna Maria returns to action on Saturday when they take on WPI at 9:45 AM, and again at 12:15 pm.
