Baseball Held Off By Brewers

WINTER HAVEN, FL - On Sunday, March 9th the Anna Maria College baseball team took on the Vassar College Brewers for a non-conference double-header. The AMCATS lost both games 19-4 and 7-2.

GAME ONE:

After a scoreless first inning, the AMCAST were the first on the board with a four run second inning after Alec Rich hit a three run homer followed by an RBI single from Tommy Sasso making it 4-0. The Brewers would go on to hold the AMCATS scoreless for the remainder of the game taking a commanding lead and securing a 19-4 victory over the AMCATS.

GAME TWO:

After the break, the Brewers were the first on the board in game two, taking a 3-0 lead in the top of the third inning, followed by a two run fourth inning. The AMCATS answered back in the bottom of the fourth with a SAC Fly from Josh Batchelder followed by an error by the Brewers that gave the AMCATS their only two runs of the game.

BEYOND THE BOXSCORE:

  • Tommy Sasso went 2 for 3 in game one of the day with one RBI.
  • Alec Rich recorded his first career home run in game one against the Brewers.
  • Tommy Sasso leads the AMCATS with a .476 Batting Average.

COMING UP:

The AMCATS will be back in action on Tuesday, March 11th where they will take on Drew University for a double header. Game one is set for a 1:30pm start at the Lake Myrtle Sports Complex in Auburndale, FL.
